Some sort of sporting event takes place nearly every night around the world, so the fast paced element of sports fits perfectly in conjunction with the internet. As an aspiring sports writer, it will not only be a matter of how I cover an event but also a matter of whether I am able to connect with my audience on any level. That is why I tried to keep some elements humorous, such as the Shaq freestyle, and I made sure to give my own opinion as opposed to mimicking or summarizing an article. This project was a learning and eye opening experience.
Finally, this project has shown me once and for all that I need to be more concise. Unless of course I want Carpel Tunnel Syndrome to be my new best friend. Writing is about quantity not quality. My propensity for long blogs comes from the fact that I am paranoid that if I do not put in every word and piece of information that I can that my grade will suffer for it. I want to do the best I possibly can with each assignment, but that does not necessarily mean I need to put in every piece of information I can. I know I need to break this habit and I will soon. This project is a big part of what has helped me learn my lesson.
